If I were entitled to only one pair of shoes I would go with black Chinese Mary Janes. Why? Well...To begin with they are affordable. Sturdy cotton Chinese shoes with rubber soles go with any fabric in any season, dressy or casual, at any age. I've seen them on teenage girls, middle age executives and little old ladies. They fit any type of foot because they simply take the shape of the foot they are on, and the little strap makes the foot look smaller.
